Unless you do it over text. So, Carrie Underwood....you guys know her, right? She won American Idol and sings the song about beating the shit out of her boyfriend's car so that he'll think twice before he cheats on her...yeah, well her....she and this guy Chace Crawford, who is on the show Gossip Girl (The CW) which is like a modern teen version of Falcon Crest or something, were dating and at the recent taping for Idol Cares, she got a lil snippy when asked about their break up. She said... "We broke up over text so... it's like 'peace out.' I don't know why it's all out now, when you break up with somebody and then like two months later it comes out, it's like you're rehashing old stuff." I find it so hilarious that she said "it's like 'peace out'.....but then it got me wondering, what is the best way to break up with someone? I mean, in this day in age, it is as simple as putting a message on your Gmail status that says, "I hate you. Yeah you. Fuck Off" and then the person knows you are talking to them because when they try to IM you to find out who you're talking about, they can't because you've blocked them. Or you can do like Carrie and send a text that says, "Hey mite B TMTH but IDLYITW. Actually, IDLYAA, so da dueces." But I'm guessing those approaches only work if you are like 13-20 years of age....right? But with the way we communicate these days and everything is all viral and digital, is it necessary to break up with someone face to face anymore? Is sending a text really enough? Do people even date anymore? Is breaking up even necessary anymore? Funny....I was more interested in this 5 minutes ago when I was laughing cuz I really couldn't imagine Carrie Underwood saying, 'it's like peace out'. But since I've gone through the trouble to upload a picture and actually type stuff for this post, I'm gonna go with it. Yup....breaking up and stuff. |
