The First Lady Does Glamour

And I loves it!!! She's so splendiforously fantabulous, isn't she? Lookin at this cover somehow got me excited about the holidays...or at least she makes me ready to eat all day on Thanksgiving. Anyhoo, Michelle is lookin gorgeous as per usual on the cover of Glamour magazine's Women Of The Year December issue!!! Glamour is also honoring her with a Special Recognition award for her commitment to mentoring young women.

I actually saw a lil piece about Michelle and this cover on Good Morning America this morning and this one lady was saying that if she was her advisor she doesn't think she would have advised her to do the Glamour cover because it might appear to trivialize her. I'm not sure how that is possible. The only people it would "appear" that way to are people who hate and don't see that her goal is to show the world that she might be first lady, but in her words "there's no magic to being here" and that she's a wife, mother, professional, and dedicated hard worker. She wants us to know she's just like every other woman doin the damn thing. Her husband just happens to run the free world. No biggie.

Anyhoo, Glamour offered a lil bit of what Michelle discusses in the article and my fave quote is regarding her thoughts on men:

With men, don’t be swayed by “cute”: “Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul…When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good…You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole.”

She ain't neva lied. So help me ya'll. Help me look past the fug. Puh-leeeease?

And With The Rising Of The Dawn...

I love it! You betta work Dawn! Dawn is finally ready to get her shine and step out of the shadows of the hotness that is D. Woods and the white trashy scandalousness of Aubrey Ho'Day. She's still with Diddy and she's joining another one of his groups...side eye is still on blast BUT at least she got rid of that itchy scratchy weave piece and is gonna keep pressin on....Lookin fly as she does so.

Another One Bites The Dust: VIBE

Christina M. and The Dream do the very last VIBE cover ever. Yeah um.....this is the most low budget bootleg cover they've ever done. Times were cuh-learly hard as hell. I almost renewed my subscription after Mitzi Miller's rather fantastic Usher interview....one of the very best editorials in the magazine for the last year. Everything comes to end at some point and despite the obvious decline in substance, style, etc. it's been fun VIBE. Not too long ago you gave me something to look forward to each month. Thank you for being the voice of a generation and a culture.

Weezy Party Likes A Rock Star!

Because he now is a rock star. Lil Wayne covers Rolling Stone Magazine and says he turned to rock cuz he's tired of rap. I mean, it happens. Even Weezy, despite the sizzurp situation that prolly has had some affect on his brain cells, has to move on and try new ish...especially when you've been rapping and doing the same shizz since you were like 6 years old.

On his new rock steez...."The rock sh-- just comes from what my life is now. I've grown into this person," Wayne told the magazine. "I woke up one morning and had three or four women in my bed where I not only didn't know their last names, I didn't know the beginning letter of their first names. All I know is, they're the most beautiful women in the world, and I was in my own place, in whatever city I as in. And I could have thrown a dart at the map, and I'd probably have a place there too. I knew my driver was waiting downstairs for me. When my nose finally cleared from all the weed I had smoked, I smelled food in the kitchen and I knew it was my chef. Then I look on my phone and see a message and know it's from a popular woman everyone knows. And when I went in the studio that night, I couldn't just rap, 'Yeah, n---a ... .' "

Sounds like the life Weezy F. Baby. Seriously, I cannot wait for the day that I wake up and my thighs are throbbin after the out of control love session Idris and I had, Chef is blendin me a Papaya smoothie, and Driver is waitin to take me where ever da fluff I need to go. Cuz you know the day is coming.

I'm all for the rock star life. Do you Wayne.

The First Lady Does O...With Oprah Of Course

For the first time in 9 years, Oprah has let someone else on the cover of 'O Magazine' and that honor goes to the most fabulous, First Lady Michelle Obama. To be honest, I'm not sure I like this cover. I mean, I love it just because it is Oprah and Michelle and they are two of my most favorite people, let alone Black women, ever in the world. However, I think I understand the idea to have somewhat of an action shot and not to have them posing.....BUT is it me or does it look like they weren't even together taking this pic? I mean, what is Oprah looking at? And I'm sure there was a better shot that didn't have the fly-aways goin on with Michelle's hair. I dunno...I would have worked on that just a lil more. In any case, it is still fabulous and I love them and I can't wait to read the article. But lucky for you, we get a lil sneak peek....

Oprah: So after the inauguration, what was your first weekend in the White House like?

Michelle Obama: Well, we still had family here, so it was almost like a wedding. A huge, very complicated wedding. The last visitors didn't leave until Sunday. And then the first Monday was kind of weird. You know: "Now we live here, and Barack is getting up and going to work, and it's just us. This is our home now."

Oprah: I had heart palpitations coming through the White House gate, recognizing that this really is now your home. It's the White House, and it's your home.

Michelle Obama: And it's a beautiful home. When you go out and come back, especially at night, with all the white lights on—it's just beautiful. We feel privileged, and we feel a responsibility to make it feel like the people's house. We have the good fortune of being able to sleep here, but this house belongs to America.

Oprah: How will the decorating style change?

Michelle Obama: It will reflect our family. I want comfortable sofas, I want art that reflects contemporary and traditional, I want to bring in new American artisans.

Oprah: You want more than just a few plates on the walls. You want pieces that are inclusive of American culture.

Michelle Obama: Right. And we want approachable comfort.

Oprah: So you can take off your shoes.

Michelle Obama: And you've got to be able to make a fort with the sofa pillows! Everything must be fort-worthy.

Oprah: And the kids know he's home when they hear his helicopter landing.

Michelle Obama: Once someone on my staff e-mailed to tell me that the president was on his way. But you could already hear the helicopter, so it was like, well, no kidding.

Oprah: "Dad's home!"

Michelle Obama: The girls don't move. I’m like, "You want to see Daddy landing in the helicopter?" "No, that’s okay. We already saw it."

Oprah: So what do you know for sure, Michelle Obama?

Michelle Obama: I know that all I can do is be the best me that I can. And live life with some gusto. Giving back is a big part of that. How am I going to share this experience with the American people? I’m always thinking about that.

Beyonce Does Ebony

Yonce is on the cover of Ebony rockin a curly do' and lookin rather ferocious. The pics inside the mag are kinda hot too. She also speaks on some thangs....

On her Business decisions
“I turn down million dollar offers all the time because it’s something that does not feel true for what I’m trying to say. I have to be passionate about it. Love inspires and growth inspires me…If it is not going to be iconic, something I can love 10 years from now, I’ve learned I should not waste my time with it.”

On staying out of Jay-z’s business dealings
“He was very successful before I met him and I was very successful before I met him. So we have so much respect for each other, and respect for each other artistically. We are very close friends, and I believe he is the ultimate artist and he has the same feelings for me.”

One thing she does to get on his nerves
“I’m a little messy. Oh, yeah. Whenever I’m out in public, I have to be put together. When I get home, I rebel against it and I don’t want to take care of anything. I drop it. I’m relaxed. I don’t have any shoes on. No makeup. My purse is in the kitchen. I think that is most difficult thing for him. He’s very, very organized. I’m extremely organized when I’m working, and I work so much that when I get home I don’t want to think about anything.”

When asked to describe herself as a wife:
“I don’t know how to talk about it because I don’t like to talk about it. But I have a great example of a great wife, and that’s my mother. And I have great friends around me that have been married, so I’m lucky to have really good examples. And a great husband.”

On claiming she would retire at 21
“I’ve worked so hard on my craft, and I will never stop. I will never retire. I love it way too much.”

How I would love to be a fly on the wall when Jay is gettin a 'tude wit Yonce cuz she left her lace front just layin on the bathroom floor.

What's In A Name?

"In Swahili, Kanye means "the only one." If Kanye West does nothing else, he knows how to make sure the world knows that he is indeed the 'only one' and he most certainly always does that by giving great interviews. Sometimes you read the articles with a screw face the entire time thinkin this dude is on some extra shizz and he needs to put that on simma, other times you just laugh the whole read cuz you can't believe his audacity. No matter what you think of Kanye, the truth is, he's like, totally gay....and I love it.

Kanye on how he got into making beats:
“First beat I did was in seventh grade, on my computer. I got into doing beats for the video games I used to try to make. My game was very sexual. The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas. Mind you, I’m 12 years old, and this is stuff 30-year-olds are programming. You’d have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all night to do a step, ’cause the penis, y’know, had little feet and eyes.”

Kanye on being the voice of this generation:
“If not me, then who? Someone could be a better rapper, dance better. But culturally impacting? When you look back at these four and a half years, who’s the icon at the end of the day? Who broke down color barriers? What other black guy would a white person use as a fashion reference?”

On turning negatives into positives (ex. the word “gay”):
“Take the word gay—like, in hip-hop, that’s a negative thing, right? But in the past two, three years, all the gay people I’ve encountered have been, like, really, really, extremely dope. Y’know, I haven’t, like, gone to a gay bar, nor do I ever plan to. From a design standpoint, kids’ll say, ‘Dude, those pants are gay.’ But if it’s, like, good, good, good fashion-level, design-level stuff, where it’s on a higher level than the average commercial design stuff, it’s, like, gay people that do that. I think that should be said as a compliment. Like, ‘Dude, that’s so good it’s almost . . . gay.’”

Don't most artistic greats start off creating a vagina that chases a penis in video games?

Fabulosity Of The Day: The First Lady

The fabulous Michelle Obama is March's VOGUE cover girl! Hillary Clinton was the only other First Lady to have a VOGUE cover in 1998. It goes without sayin whose cover is most fab. Anyway, as gorgeous as she looks, she still looks so normal and accessible. That's why I love me some her. She does normal stunning like nobodys bidness.

The one thing I will say is that her eyebrows could have been a tad less joker. But you know, still...so fab!

Check out some of the spread inside...

6 Babies Later....

Jennifer Aniston does Vogue and finally talks about Angelina. First let me just say it would help if her Vogue cover wasn't so boring and if she looked slightly less fug. But she is fugish, so what can ya do.

Anyhoo, she says: "There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening. I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss. That stuff about how she couldn’t wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool."

Well here is the thing Jenny. Brad was making work fun for her. They were having fun making their hot action movie and they were fuckin...like how is that not fun? I'm not saying it's right, I'm just sayin she wasn't lyin. They asked, she told. Inappropriate, hell yeah. I wish you would have said something back then BUT I think it was better that you took the high road and moved on in your own way and not giving the masses the satisfaction of watching you crack.

So Rachel, why are you talking about this now? You are always gonna be the bitch that got left for the younger and hotter Angelina Jolie. Like you had no chance, honey. It wasn't a fair fight. Plus, if you were really makin it do wut it do, Brad would have loved you enough to stay and used Jolie as a jumpoff. He actually loves her and the tribe they've created. It sucks, and you have er'right to be beyond bitter and upset, even all these years later, AND I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to have their gorgeous babies and their fabulous life thrown in your face er'other day BUT still....move on girl.

Lastly, and more importantly it's VOGUE. Why don't you look better? Oh Jenny.

Fabulosity Of The Day: TRACE and EBONY Mags

Will the real Michelle Obama please stand up? MO looks stunning on this Ebony cover. She is poised, elegant, beautiful and ready to run this bitch. Salute the first lady.

On a whole notha spectrum, Keri Hilson looks fab on the latest TRACE cover. I love her hair and her whole look. I want that dress and er' single last accessory she's rockin. Her stylist for this shoot smashed it. I wish I could say the same for her first single....

Tyra Does First Lady For Harpers Bazaar

For the September edition of Harpers Bazaar, Tyra channels Michelle Obama for a first lady presidential shoot. I think the shoot is smashing and I am choosing to look at it as if Tyra were the first lady and not as Tyra playing Michelle Obama. Michelle don't need nobody's Tyra to pretend to be her. If anything, they need to call Michelle and have her do a spread in HB cuz she is more than fabulous enough to pull it off....real hair and all.

And speaking of hair, while I love the inset pages of the first lady shoot, Tyra's 12 head is real serious on that cover and it looks like the lacefront starts a lil too far back. She is doing smile #118 which is squint the right eye, arch the right eyebrow, pop the left eye and then spread the lips just enough to only show top row teeth....its called the "I'm so cheerful" smile and that distracts from the 12head. You betta work Tyra!

Growing Up Obama

People Mag features The Obamas and gives us an inside look on what life is like for the future First Daughters, Malia and Sasha.

PEOPLE: Someone told me today that you don't do birthday presents.
Michelle: No, because we spend hundreds of dollars on a birthday party and movie tickets and pizza and popcorn ...
Barack: That sleepover is enough. We want to teach some limits to them. And their friends bring over presents.
Michelle: They get so much stuff that it just becomes numbing. Malia believes there is still a Santa Claus even though she's a little wary because some of her friends are non-believers. But Malia says, "Ma, I know there is a Santa because there's no way you'd buy me all that stuff." [Laughing]

So what does a slumber party at the Obama house look like?
Barack: They're pretty noisy.
Michelle: The older they get, they just talk a lot. But they're at the age where they're pretty self-sufficient. [For Malia's birthday] we're going to go swimming, see Wall-E, make pizzas, have sundaes.
Barack: I usually go for the swim but this time I want to go to the movie just because Wall-E has gotten great reviews. I find actually that children's movies are the best movies these days. But I'll probably, after that, peel off until the cake.
Michelle: [Laughs] "Peel off."

How cute are they? I can actually see Michelle laughing at Barack for saying "Peel Off"...Peel off Barack? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Do you give your girls an allowance?
Michelle: Sorta, kinda. [Laughs]
Barack: I'm out of town all the time, so Malia will say, "Hey, you owe me 10 weeks!" ... Originally, we were giving her a dollar a week as long as she did all her chores. It turns out that she's been doing her chores even without prompting from the allowance, which makes me feel guilty that she's been carrying on her end of the bargain and I haven't been as consistent.

What types of chores?
Barack: Setting the table, rinsing the dishes.
Michelle: They have to clean up their half of the third floor where they play. They have a closet of toys they have to clean up. They have to practice their piano every day.

What does discipline look like in your house?
Barack: Mommy raising her voice.
Michelle: It's usually a lecture. It's a lot of conversation. Or it's separating them. Or it's saying if you guys can't decide nicely what program to watch, then you don't get to watch anything. It's sort of pulling away a privilege. But in all honesty, we don't have to discipline –
Barack: If you ask them to do something, they're like any other kid ...
Michelle: They'll whine a little bit.
Barack: They'll test boundaries. But if you say, "Guys, this is what we need to do ..."
Michelle: An example of this is one night I was going out, I had to do a fund-raiser, and I told Malia, "You guys really need to have an early bedtime because you've got to get up tomorrow and have a busy day." So my mom was there, and my mom doesn't adhere to bedtime. She's kinda, "Well, maybe you wanna start taking your bath..." But that night, she said she sat down to watch TV with them and they both got up, turned off the TV and left. And my mom was like, "Where are you going?" And they said, "We have got to go to bed early today, Grandma." And they went downstairs, took their baths and went to bed, and my mom was just stunned.

I love them. To read more of the interview click: Daddy, I don't care who you are. You owe me $10.
