So You Think You Can Dance: Plus A Lil Extra

I didn't feel like addressing a couple of emails I received askin me what I thought about the American Music Awards - and why I didn't blog about it - in a separate post, because one, I think it's old news and for two, that shit was boring as hell and I fell asleep and had to watch everything the next day online. So before I begin my weekly SYTYCD re-cap I'll just say this:

  • I will always love me some Janet Jackson but her 8 minute medley is something that I've heard and seen before a ga-zillion times and not only that, it was missing the excitement, the energy, and fabulousness of my Janet. I'm a fan of people goin out on top. Janet may want to think about that. And even if you do gain a lil weight and must perform maybe not wear...whatever that was.

  • Jennifer Lopez's song sucks ass, her performance sucked even more ass, it was funny to see her bust her ass, and she needs to stick to puttin her name on smelly perfume.

  • Mary J. Blige gets better and better with age. I will never question her talent or "intelligents". Go Mary!

  • The best thing about Rihanna's performance was her outfit and laser works.

  • If I hear Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "NY State of Mind" one more time....

  • Whitney Houston is back! She sounded beautiful and looked gorgeous. Proud of Whitney!!!

And there you go.

So now let's get on with why we're really here. SYTYCD! (Sorry that I find SYTYCD way more entertaining) Two routines per couple tonight. Let's get it!

Ellenore and Ryan

The Lindy Hop...how fun! That was really cute and energetic. Who knows anything about the Lindy Hop from a technical aspect, not me that's for sure, but it looked hard without looking hard. I loved all the lifts, the kicks, and um "coffee grinders", and that final split by both of them. Awesome!!!

Next dance Ellenore and Ryan get is Broadway and these two just proved yet again how great they are. I totally believed that Ryan was the puppet master and Ellenore played the perfect puppet. They totally got into character, they were entertaining, and so believable. I have such a total dance hottie crush on Ellenore. She is a joy to watch. LOVED IT!!!

Kathryn and Legacy

A Jazz piece by Sonya. Mkay, this piece starts with Legacy doing an out of control backwards "crab walk". SICK!!!! This routine was great!!! I have to say that I watched Legacy way more than I watched Kathryn. Yes, it was smart of Sonya to add a lil dash of Hip-Hop into her routine, but I don't think it was for Legacy's benefit. It was to help make the routine even greater. Legacy doesn't need any hand outs or add-ins or extras. He is really a true dancer. And as he said, "I was dancing." Let em' know Legacy! Now, Kathryn did a great job as well especially with her split and back leg toe point. And I did like that leotard she was wearin. This is definitely one of the best routines all season. Loved it!!

So for their second piece, Legacy and Kathryn get the Viennese Waltz. Beautiful. That was gorgeous choreography and it was so beautifully executed. And wait, is Legacy crying about hope? OMG, he is soooo makin it to the top ten. I think I love him. But seriously, technically I couldn't tell what was wrong, I just knew that I thought everything they did was right.

Karen and Victor

These two lost their partners last week and are working together for the first time. They got the Tango and....Victor is way too gay for Karen. There was no hot connection, I wasn't turned on, and it was obvious nobody wanted to rip anybody's clothes off when it was over. With that said, technically I think they did very well. I think they hit their marks, they had the poise, the moves, and the look. So it was good and stuff but eh.

Karen and Victor get Hip-Hop for round two. Boom Boom Kat is back again. She's such a wonderful mess and she gives these dancers good stuff to work with. That said, that wasn't good. Karen was tryna dance her ass off and she did but something was off...and I think it was Victor. He needs to go. Not great at all.

Mollee and Nathan

The youngins start off with some Hip-Hop choreographed by Jamal Sims. I have to say, it was pretty decent. The routine wasn't technically difficult and it wasn't anything to "phone home about"...but it was aight. I like that it is obvious that Nathan and Mollee enjoy dancing with each other but I'm with Nigel...if they make it to next week, I'm so ready for them to dance with someone else. I think they young/dumb each other down dance-wise.

These two are doin The Can-Can with the help of Tyce Diorio. And wow, I'm totally impressed. I was just waitin for this to be a total womp womp but it was actually really great! And I finally got to see the Nathan that I loved from the very beginning. Nathan has skills! And Mollee was great too, and I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up in Circ Du Soleil (or Circus Soil Le as my friend Tee would say) or in that kind of performing dance troupe. The dance was obviously energetic and full of kicks and spins and all that great stuff. They were great. The Can-Can prolly saved these two.

Noelle and Russell

Russ and Noelle start off with a Samba. First of all, great song selection..."Hips Don't Lie" and while it wasn't as sexy as it needed to be, they tried to make it do wut it do. You can tell they give it everything every time and that's why I love them. So wish it was better, but still get an A for effort from me. I also don't ever want to see Russell in that outfit or any outfit like that ever again.

The second time around Russell and Noelle perform a Tyce D. Contemporary piece which included paint and creating art. That was an amazing routine. They absolutely hit their marks, executed wonderfully, and effortless. And you could tell from the very first move that it was going to be worth watching. So happy they ended with such a strong routine. Excellent!

Ashleigh and Jakob

First let me say that Ashleigh is gonna miss Jakob cuz he is the reason she's still on this damn show. But anyway, their first dance is a Lyrical Jazz piece and it is another Sonya original beauty. And another opportunity for Leaps and Bounds aka Jakob to dance circles around Ashleigh. So here is the thing. I just need to know how Jakob is splittin, liftin, spinnin, leapin and boundin while Ashleigh is doin like a kick and walk? It is obvious that the choreographers enjoy giving Jakob the major moves cuz he can do them. You can't help but watch him and love him. Now I do think this was Ashleigh's best piece all season. And this piece was fantastical. Loved it.

Leaps and Bounds and Ashleigh end the night with a Cha-Cha. Finally, something Ashleigh knows how to do! This was the first dance that I actually paid attention to her throughout the dance. She managed to put Jakob in the background a lil bit. It was sexy, it was hot, it fun, it was entertaining and not much else to say but they worked that. And I stand corrected...THIS was actually Ashleigh's best piece all season. NICE!

So seriously, dancers were dancing tonight and the choreographers were giving the dancers dance! So many of them brought their best tonight like Ryan, Ellenore, Legacy, Kathryn, Jakob and dare I say Ashleigh. Even with that Can-Can I think Nathan and Mollee should be dancin for their lives but Karen and Victor are the two that I can actually put money on. And while I think Russell and Noelle's Contemporary piece was great, I think they might be in trouble too.

We shall see tomorrow! Good work people, good work!

I Was Like Um...

The VMAs. Nothing much to say. It was a womp womp. I knew I shoulda just watched True Blood. Anyway, Janet did what she needed to do for her brother, Kanye is an asshole as per usual (why is er'body shocked and rupauled...cuz he stole the mic from a lil country singer & told da truth...he's done this before. Let us not forget this is the man that cried and thru a hissy fit on stage when he didn't win awards he felt he deserved and told the world that George Bush doesn't care about black people. Since when has Kanye not said what he wanted, when he wanted?), Beyonce is the epitome of hotness and class, and Lil Mama's diagonal was off...the mental ward is callin lil girl.

Anyhooo, while there wasn't a damn thing good about the VMAs, I was totally entranced by this press conference after the Buffalo Bills game....this prolly shouldn't be funny as this dude might really have a SERIOUS medical situation that makes him stutter and/or just get really, really, nervous but I was like um.....

Heehee....wooo wooo my man....next time just breathe and relax.

The Gist: BET AWARDS 2009

I was soooooo ready to be give The Gist and talk about the amazingness that was the BET Awards. Yeah ummmmmm, not so much. I completely understand that BET only had three days to re-vamp the BET Awards so that they could pay tribute to Michael Jackson because there was no way that the show could have gone on without a serious MJ tribute....HOWEVER, something tells me that if Michael were still alive and the show went on as normal, he would think that show was a boring ass hot mess just as I did.

The best part of the show was Jamie Foxx. His hosting and his Michael Jackson tributes were all highlights. I love how all the media is making sure to include one specific line in their editorials and recaps and that is when Jamie said: "He belongs to us and we shared him with everybody else. ... It didn't make a difference what he looked like. It matters what he sounded like." You know there a certain people who don't want to hear that. But people do need to know that no matter what, he is ours forever and always.

The most important moment was when Janet came out to let us all know how she and her family are feeling. Ultimately, Janet's moment was the show.

I could talk about how Tiny really is the fugliest smidget in the world who can't speak English. But how many times can I say that? I could recommend that Ne-Yo keeps a hat on...I understand that er'now and then you wanna switch it up, but let's stick with what works boo. I could also talk about how boring Yonce's Ava Maria performance was or why her tribute to Michael Jackson was being all shy and acting like she never won an award before. Ciara singin "Heal the World" hmmmmmmmmm...my Audrina eyes were on full blast. Maybe Keyshia Cole shouldn't duet with people who can out sing her on ridiculous levels. (Props to Monica for sangin as per always.) Should Lil Wayne's daughter and other lil girls be on stage while he and his crew are performing songs about how many girls they wanna screw? Especially when he 'allegedly' has babies coming at the same time from two 'girls' he likes...I dunno. I could talk about such things, but I won't.

I will say that New Edition's "Stop the Love You Save" performance was really good, I enjoyed Tyrese, Trey Songz, and Johnny Gills tribute to The O'Jays (all three of them looked great and sounded even better), Maxwell was luscious and fantastic as I knew he would be, I am very pleased Jay-Z got a hair cut, and I loved the Humanitarian tribute to Alicia Keys and Wyclef. I will also point out that Alicia looked amazing - gorgeous.

That about sums it up. Joe Jackson was in the audience and on the red carpet he said he wished we had done this for Michael while he was still here. He's bigger now than he ever was. I think I understand where he's coming from....somewhere along the line we all kind of let Michael go and do his thing where ever he was doing it. However, I think while Michael was alive and doing what he did best - entertaining us all - we showed him how much we loved him. I take comfort knowing that no matter how or why he had to leave us, in his heart he knew that he was our King, that it all started with him, and that there was no one before him, there will be no one after him and he is LOVE.

I'm Just Sayin....

Please excuse my lack of posting. It's just been hard. I mean, for one thing, there just isn't a whole lot to talk about. And you guys know that I have to be moved into discussion. Where's my motivation?! I did want to mention that since I didn't get my Golden Girls necklace from Santa as I had asked, can somebody please find it in their heart to get me the GG doll collection? Seriously, somebody look me out.

Truth be told, I have really just been waiting for Janet to come out on 106 & Park to challenge Yonce to a weave pullin, one rib removin, gayer than gayelle dance off. Why? I mean this happened a while ago, but you guys had to have heard that Janet is pissed that Yonce was talkin shit about how she grew up upper class and her family didn't use her to get out of a bad situation like the Jacksons. I actually read the article in which she makes that comment a long time ago and I didn't think anything of it....but now that I think about it, Yonce might want to think about the shit she says before she says it....even Sasha Fierce can get her wig knocked off. And I really want Janet to be the one to do it. Then again, if I were Yonce, I would just send Janet pics of her family and be like um, in case you needed proof....yeah, I said it. And what? Then I would send her a pic of my man and let her know that his big ass lips will swallow her midget man whole. Don't start none, won't be none.

Oh wait, so I was enjoyin some Brown Juice so that this reality bullshit wouldn't be so hard and it was doin its job and had me feelin like how Sanjaya looks on his album cover...I thought it was the Brown Juice but it seems he really does have an album and that really is the cover and he really does look like that and that really is the pose they chose and his hair is really that flat ironed and hot rodded.... but who cares, the BJ really has me dancing to the music in my head, so right on Jaya!

Anyhoooo.....I wake up from my BJ induced coma and saw this.... Am I the only one who sang "Can We Talk" like I was on Star Search and couldn't wait to let Tevin Campbell know 'I Was Ready' to love him back in the day? Ummmmm.....why does Tevin look like he's 56.5 years of age? The episode of "The Fresh Prince" when Ashley loves Tevin still comes on...it wasn't that long ago? Was it? Oh bujeeezus....gimme my BJ. I can't. I'll holla.

If You Break Up Wit Your Man Cuz He Throws Up On U....

You're so lame! Says Janet. And I have to agree. Er'body gets a lil too fucked up er'now and then. Especially chocolate leprechauns.

Move Over Boom Boom Kat.....

Introducing Gil "Ga-Ga-Ga-Ga-Uh-Uh" DulDulao. And who is Gil? Well he is some kinda choreographer who is helping Janet find new talent for Janet's reality show which is for now being called, The Janet Jackson Project. Please take a sneak peek...truth be told, there really isn't anything exciting about this lil tidbit other than Gil doesn't use hard beats to hit the marks (say like, Boom Boom Kat)...its more like 2,3, Ga-Ga-Ga-Uh-Uh,4, Uh-Uh. Also PLEASE watch girl in the pink jacket that they keep showin...I'm guessin cuz its more than obvious she ain't makin it.

Random Ish....

This may be something we all have pondered at one time or another, but is Jermaine short enough to legally be considered a Little Person? Seriously, Janet ain't but 4'10 1/2 and we can't see her shoes but I'm assuming she's wearing heels and she is towering over J.D. the midget. I know, I know, he's standing on his money stacks.

While Amy Wino is throwin bo's while performing, WHY is her husband Blake is sending love letters to a crack head inmate named Melissa who is in jail for supplying class A drugs? And of course you can't read his dyslexic, heroine, crack head penmanship so here is a quote: "I squeeze your throat whilst your sucking me and I ask you if your a dirty bitch. At most we’ve got to wait ten weeks for the best snog of our lives!! Miss you Lissy, love and rockets, your Blakey x x x.” Right. Crack is wack people. Crack is wack.

After the BET Awards atrocity would you pay money to see Keyshia Cole, Weezy, T-Pain, and Akon perform? Actually, now that I think about it, da hell is Akon doin in the line-up?!

Costume Institute Gala At The MET

Last night's Costume Institute Gala brought out the A-Listers and their fashion A game....altho some ensembles were a lil costumey (Yes you Zoe K., with your green velvet window treatment dress with the boa and tassel), I'm assuming that was going with the theme of the evening. My girlfriend Eva M. was beautiful as always, but I have to say that Eva L. was killin it in that purple ruffle number. My favorite, however, is the beyond gorgeous for words Iman in her fabulous red dress with the corset and jewelz at the hip. (For real fashion terms please visit Elle. Thanks.)

Random Ish...

So apparently, I'm the only one who enjoyed Janet's Rock Wit U video. I mean it wasn't the bestest ever but it was damn better than Feedback. But it seems not even Janet liked it and so her label called a crisis intervention and they are doing a re-shoot. I mean I loved the choreography and I liked that it looked like everyone was on E while she just continues to say strobe lights make everything sexier. Well now I can't wait to see how she plans to top that. - Perez

And clearly, I may not know good videos when I see them, but I'm going to put it out there and say I'm really feelin Kanye's new video for Homecoming featuring Chris Martin. I love that Chris Martin's body outline is the view through which we see stuff. Cool.

Sarah Jessica Parker rocks a jacket made out of Fozzie the Bear's fur. Wonka Wonka! - Go Fug Yourself

ANTM model cast off Marvita says that she was just doin what Tyra told her but its all good because now she has guys asking her to ring up their wood. - Oh No They Didn't

Damn test tube baby! The first test tube twins turn 25! Thanks to them, J.LO and so many moms have test tube babies! - MSNBC

Janet Is A Caged Vixen

So Janet definitely looks hot in that cage. Just ready and waiting to get loose so she can go and be naughty so she can be Disciplined. But here is what I want to know....the face thing....is that a slob da knob helmet?

New Muziq: Rock Wit U

I LOVE Janet's new video for Rock Wit U!!! Definitely one of my favorite songs off her album and this song is the reason why my knee is all fucked up. During a Janet Dance Off, I did an extra long back bend and drop cuz strobe lights make everything sexier. Anyway, Janet looks great in the video, I love the choreography and most importantly she's not dancing in milk on Jupiter.

Janet Goes #1

Congrats to Janet for her #1 album. Janet and Erykah were neck-in-neck for a minute but Janet pulled out the win and Erykah follows closely behind at #2. What is really interesting is that their numbers are so low. It is crazy that less than 200,000 copies is a number one album but it is just further proof that CDs will soon be irrelevant and phased out. People don't buy music anymore.....not when you can listen to whole albums online before they are even released.....and since some people can't even afford to fill their gas tanks. Buying music, going to movies, all that seems pointless when all you have to do is wait for the leak.....

Janet is Funny!

So with the release of Janet's Discipline album today, MTV is making it Janet week! She did a bunch of spoofs of MTV shows, Making the Band, Sweet 16, Real World...she even did Rob & Big. I really giggled. I love it.

Show Em' How It's Done Janet!

Janet looks fabulous in these new promo pics! Very reminiscent of her "Velvet Rope" days with a sprinkle of "Janet"....she is one of the very few that can pull of the shy, sexy, come play with me look.....definitely loving it!

Feedback Still Coming In About Feedback

So I was reading over at Sandrarose that Ciara's fans are in an uproar over Janet bitin off of Ciara. Errr, wait a minute, say what now? Janet swagger jacked who? First of all, YES, Britney (in her saner days) already did the moon walk space man I'm dancing on planets thing with Oops I Did It Again. And YES, Yonce already rocked the long horse hair tail from the top of the head in Ring the Alarm. But Ciara jacked the ponytail from Yonce too and just cuz they both wearin skin tight black outfits don't mean shit.

I'm offended. While I don't like Janet's video -- I mean, is she really singing and dancing in milk on the moon? -- if anybody is stealing anything from anybody it would be all dem bitches swagger jackin Janet and they've been doing that since forever. I mean haven't we all? Who got a nipple ring thinking they was in the Velvet Rope....oh damn, was I the only one?

But you know what would be good....if Ciara and Janet had a dance off! OMG, how hot would that be?! Janet would bust out some Pleasure Principle move and then Ciara would counter with a 1,2 step. OMG, let me call Lady O about this right now.

Are You Heavier Than A First Day Period?

Janet is! And finally we get to see the Feedback video we've all been patiently awaiting. I already like the song but I thought that the video would make me not only love Janet even more, but possibly make the song my new anthem -- you know, just have the song playing whenever I'm on search for my newest light skin, dark skin, or Asian persuasion. Anyhooo, unfortch, its not the case. I think I was expecting a 2008 Rhythm Nation/If and we get the moon walk....literally.

She looks great and I can appreciate the dance break and the end when she is playing with those white balls....but overall, I give Janet a B-. While the song is definitely the club banger I make my butt clap too, the video is kind of a womp womp. But what do you think? Do you love it?
