So I heard yesterday something about Project Runway moving to Lifetime Television but that NBC was not going to allow that happen and they are already on the way to the court house. I didn't really want to talk about it if two days later we hear that PR stays on Bravo and the details were still sketchy, but after further investigating, it seems as if it might be for real, for real and me no likey. First of all, Project Runway is Bravo. When did anybody ever watch Bravo? It wasn't until PR and then Top Chef and then the Housewives that people started putting Bravo shows on their Tivo list. Now while I love me some Lifetime....seriously, from 9-12 M-F, The Nanny, The Golden Girls, Fraiser, and Will & Grace is the best fuckin day time TV lineup...but after that, I'm not really checkin for Lifetime like that.
According to ETonline: The reality competition -- which has been one of Bravo's top rated shows -- is moving to rival network Lifetime Television after next season, the show's fifth. The sixth season will debut on Lifetime in November as part of a five-year deal, but Bravo's parent company NBC isn't happy about the change.
They have filed a lawsuit seeking a preliminary and permanent injunction to prevent the show from making the move. They also said they will have to decide if they will continue to air "Project Runway."
"NBC Universal regrettably had no alternative but to bring legal action to enforce its rights to this program, including the right to decide whether it is in the best interest of the company to continue to air the show under the proposed financial terms," the company said in a statement.
This changes everything....Bravo attracts such a mixed demographic and not to mention, it is just an overall cooler network. They are so going to lose the STRAIGHT man audience. Men are not going to watch anything on Lifetime no matter if they liked the show before or not. Also, the show might get lost in the shuffle because when you think its coming on a friggin Lifetime movie with Mario Lopez is on. Plus, are women 35-99 (Lifetime's demographic) going to be texting to see if Ricky cried too much on an episode? Mkay, well actually, they might. But still...this is real unfortunate and just not a good look but we'll see if they can make it work.
Are you watching PR on Lifetime?
