New Muziq: Ashanti

So Ashanti has a new video for her song "Good Good". I don't talk about Ashanti too much because, well she is so mediocre to me. And yeah, it is going to sound like I'm hating and that's fine, I could give two shits but since I came across this video, I decided to speak my mind...as per usual. So here is the thing, it would be one thing if Ashanti was beyond dope or if she was the absolute worst -- either way she would be worth discussing. I'm taking the time to discuss her now because I think this new video is cute and creative and she looks pretty good in the video. But it ends there. Let's think about why you don't have Ashanti's album. According to a VIBE review of her album "In truth, the one-time Mistress of Murder Inc. would be lucky if she made it through an American Idol audition unscathed." But here is what I think. First of all, she can sing better than say, Rhianna but she isn't near as gorgeous. She can't sing nowhere near as good as say, Beyonce and she isn't near as gorgeous. When you are cute as the average girl and can sing better than most, what is missing? Well we all enjoyed Ashanti when she was signing hooks on er'body's rap song. Then she came out with some great songs of her own. The thing is, she is supposed to get better, right? Not to mention, this time around she is no longer with Murder Inc. and she supposedly has control over her own shit so shouldn't she make sure she came with the fire?! First of all, look at her album cover? *Audrina Eyes* I mean da hell? Her album cover looks like some bullshit that Hannah Montana would have. Who is on her design team? Your fourth album (especially after droppin her last crapola) should have, if nothing else, bangin ass cover art. Since I've already compared her to Yonce and Rhianna - look at their last two album covers....they make you just want to look at them. Even stare at the cover and see what's in the pages inside. Ashanti looks like she's trying way too hard to do nothing. And while I like her first song about "The Way I Love You" (or something like that) she just doesn't have a presence. And really, I don't believe you and you need more people. And then OK she and Nelly have the cute lil relationship going (and he also is in this video) but I can't help but think of them as the wackadocious low budget version of you know who. Anyway, I watched this video and again was bored with her. Even with the cute and creative concept of the video, the song is just blah. The song doesn't evoke anything. I want to like her, actually, but I can't. However, I know many of you out there do, so enjoy this new video from your girl.
