Don't do it. Don't try and get at me cuz I said something about you or your mama or I posted a picture of you lookin' a hot stank ass mess. I know damn well I didn't take that picture nor do I care to take any credit for doing so. I also will talk about you and whoever else I damn well feel like talkin about. Should you have an issue with that, feel free to keep it movin. I makes no apologies. It is what it is and like I done said....Yeah, I Said It. And What? Bitches!!!
That's the name of Chris Rock's new film which was just in competition at the Sundance Film Festival. Chris decided to make the documentary for his daughter who asked him how come she didn't have "good hair". Chris thought that girls who don't grow up with love are the ones who have self esteem issues and believe that such things as "good hair" make you beautiful. And his daughter, whom he tells he loves all day, is essentially asking why she isn't good enough. So Chris decided to make this movie for his daughter and black women which looks at the history and cultural impact of Black hair. He said:
“[Good Hair] is kind of a love letter to black women, and it’s definitely a love letter to my daughter.”
I can't wait to see this movie. It is just a reminder that many Black girls and women still fixate on what is portrayed as beautiful in this country and hair is still a major issue. I love that a black man loves his daughters enough to use a platform that he has access to, not only to educate but to instill in them that black is beautiful no matter what shade or grade it comes in. Good job Chris!
